Last month we conducted a sweepstakes for the announcement of SRS TruVolume™. For a chance to win, consumers were asked to take part in a home entertainment focused survey. The results from this survey are below:

-  95% of consumers have noticed volume fluctuations on their TV when changing channels or when programs go in to and out of commercials

-  Of those people, an astounding 99% found the volume fluctuations annoying

-  The majority of people (59%) use their remote control to adjust the volume; and 34% of people use the mute button to stop the volume spikes

-  Of the consumers who use the remote to control the spikes, 44% adjust the volume 3-10 times a day, 23.7% use the remote 10-20 times a day, and 12% use the remote more than 20 times a day.

-  Given the option, 80% of consumers would “definitely” or “likely” purchase a TV with a volume leveling technology built-in.

These results continue to highlight the fact that fluctuating volume on broadcast TV is the leading complaint among consumers.
