I’ve seen Avatar twice this week, yes twice, and found it to be absolutely mind blowing! Without a doubt it is one of the most visually appealing films I have ever seen, and by my best estimation, this must have been what it was like for my parents back in 1977 to see Star Wars for the first time.

For me, Avatar has it all, life-like special effects, incredible 3D rendering, and fantastic sound mixing to seal the deal! Without dropping any spoilers, Pandora is a fictional alien planet that’s crawling with a massive feast of creepy critters, and due to the depth of Real 3D and a quality sound mix it honestly felt as though I was there; part of it all. If you have the three hours to spare, be sure to see Avatar in the theater. It’s an experience you won’t soon forget.

And, from one audio fan to another, pay close attention to the sound, listen to the things that seemingly slither around you, and ask yourself if the film would be quite as captivating without it?

Now for all of you, “I’ll wait till DVD” people out there, make sure that you have a sound system that will enable you to truly experience this film. But, since more than 70-percent of U.S. consumers don’t own a surround sound system, chances are you’ll be watching this movie over your TVs built-in speakers, which is normally a big problem, unless you have an SRS TruSurround-equipped TV. This technology will allow you to get far more out of your TVs speakers than you ever thought possible by creating a genuinely immersive…dare is say it…experience. Visuals are only one part of the equation so don’t forget the sound. It’s the difference between a good and a great film.
