How To Turn On SRS WOW in Windows Media Player 12

Last week, Microsoft released the latest and greatest version on Windows® , a marvel of PC operating system ecstasy, lovingly referred to as Win 7. I couldn’t wait to update my Vista machine, but was a little reluctant to install it on my XP machine, however I upgraded both PCs and haven’t regretted it so far. If you’ve upgraded your PC and haven’t played with beta versions of Win 7 like I have, more than likely you’re still trying to figure out how to navigate through it and find where certain settings are and how to change them.

After I upgraded my PCs, I was fiddling around with Windows Media Player, getting acquainted with its new GUI, but, for the life of me, I couldn’t figure out how to turn on SRS WOW™. If you don’t already know this, SRS WOW audio solution is pre-installed into WMP as an “enhancements” option. Having SRS WOW “on”, makes your audio sound more natural and immersive, plus this enhancement gives WMP users full control of SRS TruBass®, which allows them to add as much or as little bass enhancement as necessary to make their speakers come to life.

Back to the point of today’s blog post, if you are running Win 7 with WMP 12 and can’t figure out how to turn on the SRS WOW enhancement, follow these four simple steps below:

1. Launch Windows Media Player

2. Either go to the ‘View’ menu and select ‘Now Playing’ or use keyboard shortcut Ctrl+3

3. Right-click anywhere in the ‘Now Playing’ pane, go down to Enhancements and select SRS WOW Effects

4. Then turn it on

That’s all there is to it! Now crank up those speakers and hear your audio the way it was meant to sound.
